All About... For The Birds

For The Birds, a popular retail Backyard Birding & Nature store, was founded by Pam Leisle in 1996. Purchased by avid birdwatcher, master gardener, naturalist and Durango Nature Studies co-founder Janet Kenna in the summer of 2004, For The Birds enthusiastically continues its exclusive focus on products that appeal to experienced (and beginning!) wild and backyard bird enthusiasts.

From Bird Feeders, Bird Baths and Gift Items, to Music, Optics, and Books & Guides, to Bird Food, T-Shirts, Garden Art and Wind Chimes, to Teacher Resources and Kits to stimulate the imagination and celebrate discovery, there's something for everyone at For The Birds! We're also an excellent source for education and information about local birding areas, birdwatching groups and nature activities.

In April of 2007 the store moved across the street to an expanded location on the Animas River Trail at Rotary Park. There, the riparian corridor provides ample bird viewing; the Durango Silverton Train goes chugging by, and screams of delight can be heard from downriver rafters!
